‘Wonder Woman’ Film Banned in Lebanon over Israeli Lead Actress

The film also features a female director, Patty Jenkins, a rarity in an industry often faulted for its lack of diversity. The film doesn’t apologies with its period-correct presentation of patriarchy where Gadot is seemingly relegated to the sidelines during the London scenes. And at this point, there’s no reason to suspect Wonder Woman can’t. At the moment Warner Bros. has no comment.

Variety also notes that other films starring Gadot, including Fast and Furious 6 and Furious 7, were screened in Lebanese theaters. But being a DC film, “Wonder Woman” can’t help but devolve into a blurry, concrete-busting third act that feels dispiritingly like all the rest, not to mention a baffling reveal that negates most of Diana’s growth.

For 38-year-old Siva Arjun, the impression Wonder Woman left was a little different but just as impactful while he was growing up in Mumbai. “People are ready for it”. Less Batmen and supermenches, more wonderful women please.

Wonder Woman, the oft-misplaced icon in DC’s Holy Trinity, has truly made her mark on cinema. A 2011 TV pilot for NBC never aired.

Patty Jenkins directs with grace and wonder.

And after multiple Batman and Superman reboots, Diana is a relatively fresh presence at the multiplex. A lot of the charm comes from Chris Pine and Gal Gadot, who turn their relationship into something special. The two have a winning chemistry together, bringing a sense of ease and humor to their dramatic performances. While I enjoyed the overall movie, I think most Marvel movie fight sequences look more realistic than the DC ones. The latest installment of the DC Extended Universe has already received glowing reviews from fans and critics alike, even surpassing The Dark Knight to become the highest rated superhero movie on Rotten Tomatoes.

It’s this lack of quality villains that makes the ending drag.

I was lamenting the other day that everything I know about Wonder Woman came from Super Friends and Lynda Carter, neither of which I’ve seen in about (gulp) 40 years. We then get a very young Diana (newcomer Lilly Aspell) living on a hidden-island paradise among the Amazons, a group of powerful warrior women. Step back boys, because this film shows how a woman can lead battles, move mountains, and make a mark in the world.

With how amazing Wonder Woman is, we finally now have a female superhero in the modern age who girls of all ages can look up to. “I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt”.

The superhero adventure movie is distributed in Nigeria by the leading distribution company in Africa, Blue Pictures. So why can’t Hollywood take this movie or the woman making it seriously?
