SmackDown women’s title match moved to WrestleMania 33 main card

According to Reddit User “STICKSNBRICKS17”, The Big Show confirmed earlier today on the Jim Norton and Sam Roberts Sirius Radio Show that this year’s Wrestlemania would be his last.

Though we figure Lesnar’s WWE pay was down slightly from 2015, when he took on Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania, the squared circle wasn’t the only ring Lesnar stepped into past year: The Beast Incarnate made a much-publicized return to the UFC at July’s UFC 200. We’ve already run down each match and told you what we’re most looking forward to, so now let’s make some predictions.

-Kickoff Show: Neville vs. Austin Aries for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. As of this writing, 40% went with Goldberg while 18% voted for Bliss, 17% for Wyatt, 7% for Bayley, 6% for Jericho, 5% for Ambrose and 4% for Gallows Anderson.

Watching that differing dynamic play out during the course of WrestleMania 33 will be fascinating, and seeing how it changes and evolves in the coming year through a new draft and inevitable authority and story changes on both RAW and SmackDown will bear close watching. You should be. WWE has spent months (or in some cases, weeks) building up the matches for this card. A separate 30-second spot will air during WrestleMania 33’s pre-show.

You can read the entire interview here. However, three years later, this match receives little-to-no hype and features the bottom of the WWE roster, with the exception of a quality name of two.

Most people have this one as their top Mania match ever, and deservedly was awesome. But…. This year will be no exception, however, there is ultimately going to be some “heat” by the die-hard fans steaming from some of the match choices. Over 1.5 million more will be watching on the WWE Network. Triple H retained his title after finally beating The Rock. WWE’s annual Wrestlemania has become an iconic event for host cities. We don’t want Taker to leave just because Roman Reigns beats him.

There would be even more intrigue to this match had The Undertaker not lost his WrestleMania undefeated streak – or if there was some sort of “career on the line” stipulation. Known then as “The Bad Guy, Razor Ramon” Scott Hall faced off with Mr. WrestleMania himself in what is considered by some as the best match in the history of professional wrestling.
