President Trump Grants Clemency to Alice Johnson After Kim Kardashian Meeting

Six months ago, Kim Kardashian West first saw a story come across her Twitter feed about Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender serving a life sentence, and “felt this connection” to her. Others, including White House counsel Don McGahn and chief of staff John Kelly, were less enthusiastic, according to a senior administration official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. Johnson said she allowed others involved in the conspiracy to use her phone and that she also relayed messages for them, but she said she never personally sold drugs.

But despite meeting the criteria, Johnson’s case for clemency had previously been denied on three separate occasions. Why was Alice Johnson jailed?

“I want to say to President Trump, I am going to make you proud that you gave me this second chance in life”.

Another attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, said earlier that Johnson feels overwhelmed with emotion and like she’s been “resurrected from the dead”. “I know that it was a miracle”. Let us know in the comments. And we have connected.

“She said, ‘You can go home, you can go home now.’ When I heard the word ‘home, ‘ I started screaming and jumping and crying”, Johnson said.

“At the end of the day, he heard me out”, she concluded. It was a non-violent crime and first time offense, but her sentence equaled that reserved for murderers, rapists, and pedophiles.

Kardashian West visited the White House with her lawyer, Shawn Holley, and had also linked up with Mr Trump’s son-in-law and presidential adviser, Jared Kushner, who has been lobbying for prison reform.

Johnson wasn’t eligible for parole, but the TV star met with the former reality TV boss, President Donald Trump, in the Oval Office after learning of Johnson’s plight online. Of course, a little jolt of celebrity helps bolster the decision-making process for Trump. But the man who rode to the presidency with a Nixonian doom and gloom fear of domestic crime, worldwide terrorism, and invading immigrants, and who is lovingly supported by the Fraternal Order of Police was nudged into pardoning someone who by all accounts was long overdue for such a kindness. Kardashian became aware of Johnson’s story previous year after seeing Mic’s viral Facebook video profiling the grandmother. “I wanted to jump into their arms!”

Unfortunately, unless you have been through it, you may never understand that our criminal justice system is flawed in ways that are destroying America. “You have the biggest heart in the world and mixed with your determination you are unstoppable!” In response, Kardashian West took to Twitter to defend her husband, promising to “always ride for my man”.
