President Donald Trump told former FBI Director James Comey that he had serious concerns about the judgment of his first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, according to memos maintained by Comey and obtained by The Associated Press.
Trump is also focused on loyalty, as Comey has said in congressional testimony and his book.
“It was my great honor to fire James Comey!”.
Trump tweeted the latest attack against Comey on Friday morning, days after terming him a “slimeball” who should be in prison. Mr Trump’s team said that Mr Giuliani’s aim was to “resolve” the Mueller investigation as quickly as possible. Comey a year ago accused Trump of pressuring him to pledge loyalty and end a probe involving former national security adviser Michael Flynn’s contacts with Moscow. “Will the Witch Hunt continue?” he added.
James Comey arrives to speak about his book “A Higher Loyalty” in NY on Wednesday. “‘They spend a couple days in jail, make a new friend, and they are ready to talk.’ I laughed as I walked to the door Reince Priebus had opened”, Comey wrote. “I mean, my goodness – I wouldn’t want to be in Jim Comey’s shoes if the IG is digging into these memos line-by-line trying to see if he might have left something in that shouldn’t have gone out the door”, Dupree said.
The disagreement involves conflicting recollections about a conversation the two men had after an October 2016 Wall Street Journal story about an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
In an offshoot of the Mueller probe, Trump’s longtime personal lawyer’s office and home were raided by the Federal Bureau on Investigation on Monday.
President Trump ripped “Shadey” James Comey and defended disgraced Michael Flynn on Friday.
Trump brought up the reports of “golden showers” a number of times, concerned that rumors of him being urinated on by Russian prostitutes was having a negative impact on his marriage.
Comey said that he assumed Trump was referring to his previous pledge for loyalty before his inauguration, where Comey responded he would provide “honesty”, and Trump responded, “honest loyalty”. Moscow has denied meddling. Remember, Comey has been saying, ‘Well, these memos weren’t marked classified so they weren’t classified.’ This is what Hillary Clinton said about her emails.
The memos show Trump’s distress at a dossier of allegations examining potential ties between him and his aides and the Kremlin.
“I explained that it was important that communications about any particular case go through that channel to protect us and to protect the [White House] from any accusations of improper influence”, Comey said.
Comey further claimed that Trump had candidly asked him about the possibility of “jailing journalists”. “It was nearly an out-of-body experience for me”.
Given Comey’s repeated insistence he wanted to find the leakers, it’s worth asking Comey if he ever actually found them and did anything about them. “I have never met him and I don’t know what he will do on the worldwide arena”.
